‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ is reviving the ‘Game of Thrones’ phenomenon, sparking much conversation, as was the case with the franchise’s first spin-off, ‘House of the Dragon’. Its growing popularity, apart from making it the talk of the town, has also led to the series trending on social media, especially during the premieres of its episodes.
It was during one of these media waves that a clip dated October 2025 went viral, sparking rumors that Henry Cavill, known, among other things, for The Witcher and for playing Zack Snyder’s Superman, could be part of the series’ cast.
It all stemmed from an excerpt from an interview with Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, Sir Duncan the Tall and Egg in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, during the last Comic-Con. Cavill entered the conversation when Claffey described his character as a “less sexy, less confident, less charismatic Geralt of Rivia.” Ansell then asked, “Do you think we can say that Henry Cavill…?” Claffey didn’t let him finish. Cutting him off hastily, he replied, “No, no, no. God, don’t say that. I’m sorry, you didn’t hear anything.”
This dubious exchange immediately triggered a response from the audience, who took Ansell’s question and Claffey’s quick denial as confirmation that what the protagonist was about to reveal was Henry Cavill’s participation in the series as part of the cast.
Peter Claffey responds to the insinuations
Seeing that rumors of this addition were growing, the actor who plays Sir Duncan wanted to quickly settle the matter with a brief statement via Instagram Stories: “Just to clarify, the thing Dex was referring to in the interview has nothing to do with Henry Cavill joining the series or the ‘Game of Thrones’ universe (I wish!). It was a complete misunderstanding. I hope everyone enjoys the Trial of the Seven.”
So, while this may disappoint many, we trust Claffey’s words: Henry Cavill will not be able to rescue Geralt of Rivia’s magnificent hair to play any Targaryen. At least for now. The future that the creators of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms have planned for the series is long and, for now, uncertain. Who knows if, now that Cavill’s signing is on the table, we might not see him in future seasons? We’ll leave the door open.

Five of the six episodes of the spin-off’s first season have already been aired. The fifth episode received the highest rating of the entire season on IMDb: an impressive 9.9 out of 10, which has only been seen three times in the entire television history of the GoT universe.
The last episode, titled ‘The Morrow’, premieres on February 22. ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ has set the bar very high for itself. We’ll see if the finale lives up to its acclaim.
