Since his rise to action movie stardom at the beginning of the century, Jason Statham continues to be one of the most recognizable and highest-paid actors in the genre, with recent box office hits such as The Beekeeper (2024) and A Working Man (2025). However, his next project will be quite special. Jason Statham Stole My Bike is the next crazy project from David Leitch, director of Deadpool 2 and uncredited co-director of the first John Wick. Although no details of the plot have been revealed yet, the title itself suggests that this will be an action comedy that plays on Statham’s tough-guy image.
That’s Jason Statham Stole My Bike, the upcoming action comedy from the director of Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train.
On February 13, Deadline broke the news exclusively. Jason Statham will star in Jason Statham Stole My Bike, the upcoming film from David Leitch, the filmmaker behind Deadpool 2 (2018) and Bullet Train (2022). It is an action comedy about which no plot details are known beyond what its peculiar title might suggest, and which will begin filming in May 2026, so it is currently in pre-production. There is no release date set yet. It is assumed that Statham will play an exaggerated or parodic version of himself.
Its budget is estimated to be around $80 million, a high figure for the independent film market; the film has been formally introduced to the European Film Market in Berlin. Leitch has previously worked with Statham on Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019), the spin-off of the Fast and Furious franchise. Therefore, Jason Statham Stole My Bike is expected to feature numerous fast-paced action sequences, in keeping with what we have come to expect from Statham in his filmography.
For now, the most enthusiastic and perceptive fans believe that this could be Statham’s ‘Last Action Hero’, as everything points to there being a lot of meta-narrative humor at the expense of the actor’s action hero image, as well as the expectations that come with each of his new films. Nor should we forget that Statham has already starred in several feature films with touches of humor, such as his numerous collaborations with Guy Ritchie in stories like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and the more recent Operation Fortune: The Great Con. In other words, this is not an unfamiliar genre for him.
In short, in this upcoming big-screen project, Jason Statham plans to show that he can laugh at himself and his long and prolific career, which has been full of box office hits, yes, but also the occasional monumental critical flop such as Uwe Boll’s ‘The Name of the King’. We can expect new details about Jason Statham Stole My Bike to emerge over the coming months, including its currently mysterious plot, so we can see what direction this new action-comedy film from David Leitch will take.
